St Mary's Centre
In 2009 Vision Medical launched a pilot study in conjunction with the St Mary's Centre in Manchester to establish a new and exciting way of clinical data recording and file sharing for the sensitive area of sexual abuse and assault.
As medical equipment and information technology advances, so does the need to have a solution which will provide an easy, safe and secure way of recording and transferring sensitive images and patient information. Current methods rely heavily on the responsibility of the end user to save files to a hard drive or burn onto disc for transfer of data from one centre to another. The risks and costs involved using these methods have been proven to be difficult to police at the best of times.
Our pilot study at the St Mary's Centre will be the first in the world specifically designed for the SARC fraternity. With peer review in mind, highly secure and encrypted files will be stored either locally and/or in a secure offsite centre (Home Office or CPS) for review, discussion and second opinion referral. This will alleviate the need to send/take captured images on a disc or file the length and breadth of the country for discussion or second opinion, which will result in saving unnecessary time and travel expenses paid currently through the CPS. A highly secure SARC specific network for the whole of the UK will form part of our SARC Managed Service in the future. This Managed Service will provide the SARC community with various levels of secure access to multiple pre-chosen files which can be discussed and reviewed through a secure online service. Long term, a calibrated section of images can form a new way of being able to diagnose a patient, leaving less room for error due to a collective response by the leading opinion leaders in the SARC field.
Multiple links and geographic areas can form a new way of addressing the whole data storage problem within the SARC community. The Managed Service Solution will also be future proof and will grow and improve as medical and information technology advances. Any type of traditional or video colposcope equipment will be compatible with the new Managed Service along with any type of new methods for capturing and storing images and video. More reports will follow as the pilot study progresses further. If you want to have a chat with us about the managed Service proposal, feel free to call or drop an email with your contact details.
